History
There were many reasons as to why our ancestors left their native Germany for the Russian frontier. The four primary categories where political, economic, religious, and personal.
- Political - military service, foreign occupations, wars, suppression by their own governments or ruling princes
- Economic - crop failures, high taxes, years of famine, lack of living space
- Religious - particularly in Württemberg
- Personal - relationships of kinship with princely houses, relationships with earlier emigrants
